[ARTICLE] The Filipino Legends

 

Philippines, is not only rich with hundreds of beautiful islands but also blessed with skillful hands of Filipinos that reflects the nation’s culture; with just a snap of their fingers, nation’s treasures are created to give honor and fame. May it be, painting, weaving, writing, singing and etc, Filipinos are born with great talent to show the world, and that includes the magic art could visualize to us. Art is intangible but powerful. Art gives us inspiration. Art expresses our emotion. Art is timeless, and the art our national artists left to us will never die in our hearts despite the aging time.

            GAMABA short for Gawad Manlilikha ng Bayan or the National Living Treasures Award is an honorary awards to the artists who has finest skills that shows the culture of our nation using traditional art. As a Filipino artist, they create art that are age-old customs, pleasing to the eyes, and shows the country’s culture history that shaped the Filipinos today. National Museum has all the works of Filipino artist, especially the artists who won the GAMABA Award. They display the most famous and aesthetic work of those artist who brought honor to our country. We all have background knowledge about these people. Way back in high school, we are taught about these legends. About how they are living their lives, and how did they managed to create the country's glory alongside with their talents and credibilities. And I knew, our youthful hearts was in awed.

            Today, even in 21st century, Artisan of the Philippines are still honored by the youths. Though, millennials are young at heart, we aspire them so much. Some youths even walk on their path, that’s how they are so powerful in inspiring Filipinos. Being a Filipino legend is an honour. Maintaining the fame and glory those national artists gave to us is our mission. And as a Filipino citizen who appreciates works of my fellow men, it is our duty to keep it soaring high until the glory of our land reaches the universe.
